Crypto Investors Over-Trust the 'Regulated' Label, Survey Finds

A survey by Traders Union shows that the regulated-platform label boosts confidence among cryptocurrency investors, sometimes more than it should. 72% of respondents said they feel safer on these platforms, and 31% feel much safer.
The problem is what each person understands by regulation. Only 33% associate the term with rules and oversight. Another 21% believe it means protected money, 16% see it as proof of reliability, and 14% as a sign of financial soundness. Combined, 36% expect protection against bankruptcy, loss reimbursement, or hacker attacks, things regulation alone does not guarantee.
Verification is also low. Only 18% check an official registry and 24% look at licensing data, meaning 42% actually verify it. Another 22% trust what the platform itself says, 17% assume large brokers are regulated, 14% do not check anything, and 5% do not know how to do it. And 37% admit they research less when the platform is regulated.
Even so, fears remain: 24% fear a sharp price drop, 22% fear cyberattacks, and 17% fear the platform collapsing. The study concludes that regulation raises standards but does not eliminate risks.
